Transformation is complex

The investment made in any transformation programme will define an organisation’s direction and shape its operation and performance for years to come, so it’s important to get it right... but that's harder than you may realise.

Transformation, be it digital, business, organisational or any other flavour, is like an iceberg. There’s a lot to be understood and considered that isn’t visible or immediately obvious – the stuff you really need to be aware of to avoid ending up with the transformation programme equivalent of the Titanic.

RFH helps you navigate the transformation journey and avoid the icebergs... and potentially save millions.

Transformation is a journey

It's sometimes perceived as a

smooth meandering road...

...but it's really a tricky path

that's treacherous in places.

Business, digital or any flavour of transformation can involve significant changes to an organisation's business model (what it does) and operating model (how it does it)...

  • This can impact products and services, customer segments, distribution methods and channels, the shape and structure of the organisation, the governance framework, its people, processes, data and all the technology aspects - it's how all these components work and work together. When you add in the management of internal and external stakeholders, solution providers and other third parties, and balance these elements with changes needed to the corporate mindset and culture, as well as compliance to regulation, you can see that transformational change is complex with many moving and interconnected parts.

Transformation

Preparation and Readiness

Working with you, we look at four key areas (strategic programme alignment, business model and operating model, change and programme capability, information flow and governance framework) to assess your organisation's readiness for transformation and to identify and recommend what you can and should do, to significantly reduce risk and cost, before formally engaging vendors, solution providers and teams of expensive consultants.

  • Strategic programme alignment review

Are your transformation programme outcomes and objectives clear and do they align to the organisation’s strategy and target business and operating models?

These are some of the questions we ask, and work with you to answer to ensure that sufficient clarity, consensus and direction exists regarding your transformation programme.

  • Business and operating model review

How well do you understand what you currently do? Do you genuinely have a holistic view across the operation? Does your current operating model fully enable and support your business model, or do you operate in silos?

These are some of the questions we ask, and work with you to answer, to help establish a solid foundation for transformation.

  • Change and programme capability review

Do you have an effective change capability? We look at who does change (the teams and resources), what is done (the remit) and how it’s done, governed and deployed (framework and methodology).

This includes the status of the current change portfolio, how change is initiated, engagement and communication with stakeholders, the documentation produced, management of risks and issues and assumptions, escalation and change control processes, programme reporting and the function of the PMO.

  • Information flow and governance framework review

Does the right information get to the right people at the right time so fully informed decisions can be made about programme direction, prioritisation and allocation of finite resources?

This mechanism needs to work effectively to enable the appropriate approach for transformational change to be established. We look at where information originates from and how it flows through the organisation – its formal and informal forums – up to the executive leadership team.

Maximise People and

Team Impact

Are the right people in the right roles and teams? Are they making the impact you need? For key programme roles we use the GC Index® to assess where people and teams can be most effective and make the biggest impact.

Transformation

Programme Assurance

Is your transformation programme performing as you expect? We work with you to review the programme approach,  status, structure, operation and governance to give you a candid assessment of its health.

Transformation

Programme Recovery

Has your transformation programme run into problems? Issues with performance, providers and delivery? We work with you to identify the key issues, agree a route to recovery and get it back to where it needs to be.

Passionate about better transformation outcomes

Transformational change done well can make a huge difference to an organisation's performance and operation, its people and customers. Unfortunately, transformation programmes have a poor track record of success which is wholly avoidable.

Gary Burke founded RFH to address this lack of transformation success, where programmes fail to deliver anywhere near the benefits they should.

RFH works with business leaders and organisations to help them better understand transformational change and its impact on all areas of the organisation, so it can be approached and executed in the right way and delivered successfully.

RFH is a GC partner and uses the GC Index®  to help identify how people can maximise their impact in a role or team – a key factor in the success of any transformation programme.
